You probably don't realize just how many times you've encountered our Marketing team.
If you've visited our website, chatted with us on our LiveChat tool, read our blog, visited our social channels, or just stumbled onto our site from Google, you've crossed paths with our Marketing Manager, Maria. From analyzing data to designing creative imagery, she handles all things marketing for our team.
In our latest Meet The Team feature, we sat down with Maria to learn a little more about her, her professional background, and her role here at LD Davis.
HOW DID YOU GET YOUR START IN THE GLUE INDUSTRY?
Working in the glue industry wasn't something that ever really crossed my mind before working at LD Davis. In fact, glue in general wasn't something that I really paid much attention to. My glue knowledge pretty much started and stopped with school and craft glue.
In early 2015, I was working for a local solar energy company in sales and marketing. I definitely learned a lot working there, but I was looking to make a move to a company that was a bit larger, and would offer me more opportunity for professional development and marketing responsibility.
Enter LD Davis. I interviewed with Stacey, our VP of Sales and Marketing, and her presentation of the company and all of the unique work we do at LD Davis was what sold me. The rest is history.
HOW HAS LD DAVIS HELPED YOU IN YOUR CAREER DEVELOPMENT?
In marketing, you really need buy-in from the top of the organization to get real work done. I'm lucky that the management team at LD Davis realizes the importance of marketing, content creation, and organic growth. Their support has given me the chance to flex my marketing muscles, and try new things. I've been able to attend marketing conferences, learn and implement new marketing software, and work directly with our sales team to improve our internal processes.
In my time at LD Davis, I've developed a new outlook on the role of marketing in the B2B space. Instead of selling, it's all about teaching and offer value. For those of you that read our blog, hopefully you've seen it grow into a helpful and educational resource. It's sometimes a challenge to think of fresh new ideas, but the challenges are part of the fun!
BEFORE WORKING AT LD DAVIS, WHAT WAS THE MOST UNUSUAL OR INTERESTING JOB YOU’VE EVER HAD?
I mentioned earlier that I used to work for a solar energy company. A huge part of my job was to design/engineer the metal racking that held the solar panels in place. If you've ever seen a solar array on a roof, a lot of math/science goes into the layout of the metal racking that holds those panels in place (do you know some of those solar panels are 50 lbs. each!). The racking has to be strong, but also optimized in a way to not exceed any wind or weight limits.
While it definitely wasn't marketing related, it was super interesting to learn about the solar industry and all of the work that goes into making renewable energy work.
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR PROSPECTIVE LD DAVIS CANDIDATES?
You don't realize how much there is to learn about glue until you work in the industry. Be patient, and give yourself time to learn all of the different applications. See the applications in person, if you can!
The LD Davis sales team has several decades of industry knowledge. Don't be afraid to ask them questions or for help! I know I've asked them a million or so along the way.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT WORKING AT LD DAVIS?
I like that our company is large enough to work with Fortune 100 companies, and at the same time, small enough that I can see my marketing efforts from start to finish. Being able to see my direct impact on our company's success is one of my favorite things for sure.
We also have a major emphasis on biodegradable and eco-friendly adhesive solutions, specifically for the packaging industry, which is exciting for me. There is so much, marketing-wise, that I get to work on around this topic.
WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST MOMENT AT LD DAVIS?
It's always a proud moment for me when a customer or prospect reaches our personally to let me know how much one of our blog posts has helped them. It truly makes my day to feel that I've helped to make someones life a little easier!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PLACE/DESTINATION TO TRAVEL TO?
This is a hard one. I'd have to say of all the places I've been, Greece is my favorite. My dad was born in Greece, so it was awesome to see all of the history but meeting my international family was priceless.
LAST CONCERT YOU ATTENDED?
Mumford & Sons, and my goodness they were amazing live. If they come back to the area again, I'm going for sure!
This is such an unfair question for someone who loves to eat. Hmmm, if I had to pick just one thing I think I'd have to go with the safe answer of pizza. Specifically, Santucci's sausage pizza (with extra cheese, well done!). If you're ever in the Philly area, get this. You'll thank me later.
FAVORITE MOVIE OR TV SHOW?
Another tough one! For movie, it's a tie - I could watch Forrest Gump or Good Will Hunting a thousand times and ever get bored.
For TV shoes, The Office! I always have re-runs playing at home (well, until Netflix takes them away WOMP WOMP).
WHAT DO YOU DO FOR FUN WHEN YOU'RE NOT WORKING?
I have a nine month old at home so lots of my free time is spent with her and my husband, which is so much fun! She's learning to stand and getting into everything right now, so a lot of my time in the coming weeks will be spent baby proofing!
Thanks to Maria for letting us pick her brain about all things marketing! Make sure to connect with her on Linkedin.
