Pros of using Liquid Water-Based Glue for Packaging

+ Non-toxic

+ Easy clean up with water

+ Biodegradable

+ Cost effective

+ Applied at room temperature

+ Very stable in wide range of temperatures and humidity

+ Safe for indirect food contact

+ Wide range of open/set time available to handle the fastest machines to manual hand applied applications

+ Excellent performance with wide range of paper, and paper board substrates

Cons of using Liquid Water-based Glue for Packaging

+ Most have poor water resistance

+Will not adhere to very non-polar based substrates

+ Not recommended for direct food contact

+ Not recommended for freezer grade packaging

+ If glue is not stored between 40°-100° F, it could freeze or mold in extreme temperatures

+ Once opened, most water-based liquid glues should be used within 90 days for best performance

Liquid glues include: starch, resin, and dextrin glues.
