In the graphic arts and case making (bookbinding) industries there are a lot of terms and phrases thrown around that you may not be familiar with. This glossary will help to define many of the terms commonly used. 

Protein glues, also called jelly or cake glues, are used in many everyday applications like book binding, game board manufacturing, packaging, wood working and more.

Each year, we at L.D. Davis speak with hundreds of businesses and manufacturers in regards to their protein glue needs. Because so many of them are aware of our ninety year history on all things regarding protein glue, they sometimes ask us who are some of the other protein glue suppliers in the U.S.?

Like some manufacturers in the United States we sell a high quality, high performance product which in turn does not make us the cheapest out there. Our protein glues (animal glues) are sold per pound so some customers look at that per pound price and say, in a cost cutting effort, let’s try the low cost/low quality brand instead.  What they soon find out is they didn't save money and all glues are not formulated the same.
