It's hard to believe that another year is coming to an end. Where does the time go?

As the holiday season approaches, we like to pause to take a moment to remember all the reasons we have to be thankful - not just today, but everyday!

I sat down with some members of the LD Davis team to see what they were thankful for this Thanksgiving. Here's what they had to say...

"I am thankful to be able to spend this Thanksgiving surrounded by four generations of my family."

Stacey, VP of Sales & Marketing

"I am thankful that everyone in our family can come to Thanksgiving this year. We are going to have a full house of 26 people! Lots of food, games and of course alcohol!"

Kelly, Technical Sales Manager

"Most people reflect on what they are thankful around the holidays and that is wonderful time to do this, but when you have a life changing event in your life you then become so grateful each and every day! I get to continue enjoying life! I am one of the fortunate ones. I survived Cancer. Yes my world was put on hold for a good year and a half while I had chemo & radiation.  There are days where you just don’t have any energy to do anything, and then the hair loss is a clear reality check, but you go on because you have no choice! You have a set back here and there, additional treatments are scheduled,  you have test after test and finally you are declared Cancer free. I can’t even describe what that means when they tell you that!

What all of this taught me was I was not alone in this battle. Your family and close friends are going through this with you. They are on this crazy roller-coaster ride with you, for all the ups and downs that come with it.  You can never thank them enough for the text messages asking how you are feeling, the encouragements, the get well cards and the prayers! So I am most thankful for my family that helped me when I needed them the most!

One of the things I noticed while on this journey was how strangers reacted to me. I remember the day my grandson was born, I went to the hospital to see him and my daughter. I had one of my many hats on so you could surely tell I had cancer. A stranger who was waiting on the elevator with me turned and asked “How are you doing?”. I was so stunned because most people, I think, are afraid to ask. Maybe they are afraid of the answer they may hear, maybe they think they don’t want to remind them that they have cancer. Which is silly because, believe me, there was not a single moment that passed I didn’t know I had cancer. I was so touched by this women asking about me!  So I am going to ask all of you to do something, the next time you see someone suffering from Cancer please ask them how they are doing!"

Shellie, Accounting

"I am thankful that I was given the chance to come work for LD Davis earlier this year.  I felt right at home from the beginning.  I’m also very thankful for my family and friends…. Oh, and the trip to Punta Cana I have planned for the winter!"

Becky, Controller

"I am thankful for the cooler weather and that Laura (in Inventory Control) stops complaining about the heat."

Brooks, VP of Operations

"I am thankful for everything I have gained through LD Davis. When I joined the team almost a year ago now, I was a new college graduate with no idea what I wanted to do with my degree. I found myself a part of a great work family and discovered a love of working in manufacturing."

Laura, Inventory Control Manager

"I’m very thankful that all of my friends and family are healthy this Thanksgiving. I experienced a lot of loss this past year. Hope to be turning the corner this year."

Bill, Technical Sales Manager

"I’m thankful for lasting 2 years at my job with the guys (Pat, Brooks, Willis) here….LOL (love you guys!). I'm thankful for good health to show up to work every day, and thankful for all my great co-workers and family."

Amy, Customer Service

"My little family is growing! I'm expecting my first little one in March. The joy I feel in my heart as we wait for the baby's arrival is enough to make me explode with happiness. I'm extra thankful this year for my friends, family and our little peanut that will be arriving in a few short months. Time is really flying, and I don't imagine that it'll slow down any time soon. I'm sure next Thanksgiving I'll be saying how thankful I am when I get a good nights sleep!"

Maria, Marketing Manager

"I’m thankful for hunting season."

Patrick, Plant Manager

"I am thankful that Pat goes hunting."

Willis, Technical Manager

"I’m thankful that I have the most amazing family in the world, and that I was granted the opportunity to join the LD Davis team.  That being said, I’m also grateful that Pat, our Plant Manager, is gone a lot during the fall HAHA!"

Tiffany,  Quality Manager

“I am thankful for my wife, children, and family. I have been blessed with a great job where I have some really good people to work with.”

Jeff, Technical Sales Manager

And we save the best - well, funniest - for last...

"I am thankful that my vasectomy worked 18 years ago because I saw a high school buddy at our high school homecoming football game who has two kids the same age as mine (21 and 18) and he also has an eight-year-old.  This is almost the worst-case scenario I could ever imagine.  Therefore, I am very thankful and grateful that Dr. Larry Cutler (yes, my vasectomy doctor’s last name is Cutler), studied hard and became a good and competent doctor."

Tripp, President

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and see what each of are are thankful for this year.

Above all, we are thankful for YOU - our customers, partners and friends. Wishing you a very happy Thanksgiving!
