As we approach the final week of March Madness, our office brackets are dwindling down. Tension is rising here at our Pennsylvania office. With only two people remaining, it all comes down to this week.

LD Davis Gelatin Products as Ballistic Gel

LD Davis has been manufacturing protein gelatin-based products for many decades. These gelatin products are used in many different industries, such as packaging, book binding, and even used in birdseed molds as a base for seeds, or suet.

Military agencies and medical testing labs also use our gelatin products as ballistic gel, to simulate tissue when testing firearms, other weapons, and hypodermic/implant testing. Research has shown that our gelatin product, when used as ballistic gel, reacts comparably to tissue during firearms testing.

Sample Board and Cases

LD Davis has manufactured a wide variety of adhesives for over 85 years, including animal glue, protein adhesives, hide glue and liquid glue. Our adhesives are used in a large variety of industries and for many different applications. One common use of L.D. Davis adhesives is in the manufacturing of sample boards and cases, for example, for displays in retail stores and at trade shows for certain companies.

 Gelatin is a very important part of the manufacturing process at LD Davis. Since we started manufacturing protein glue (hide glue), gelatin has been a major raw material aiding in our glue manufacturing process.
